about denver

Spending some time in Denver? Here are our recommendations!

breakfast

  • Lucille’s Creole Cafe: Chicory coffee, beignets, and arguably Denver’s best biscuit, this place is not one to miss.
  • Denver Biscuit Company: A great spot for a breakfast cocktail, and a biscuit sandwich with fried chicken and eggs on it. Can you tell we like biscuits?
  • Illegal Pete’s: New to Denver? Check out every native’s favorite breakfast burrito. Be sure to get it Colorado Style, smothered with queso and green chili.

lunch/dinner

  • The Post Brewing Company: Fried chicken? Check. Cold beer? Check. The Post is a must for anyone seeking an indulgent, fried meat adventure during their time in Denver.
  • Bang Up to the Elephant! Billing itself as “Caribbean Beach Shack food,” Bang Up to the Elephant’s ambiance alone makes it worth a visit, let alone their extraordinary and inventive cocktail and food offerings. Where else are you going to go to eat shark in Denver?
  • Julep: Southern comfort food kicked up about 10 notches. Just do yourself a favor and get reservations now.
  • SuperMegaBien: Did someone say, “Mexican Dim Sum?” Yeah, this place is incredible.

activities

  • Denver Art Museum: The Denver Art Museum is huge, and has collections of art that will appeal to all types of art lovers. Check out the Monet exhibit while you’re in town.
  • Denver Aquarium: Normally, we’d also include Denver’s zoo on this list, but they are not really doing much in January. Instead, check out the Aquarium for an indoor exploration of water-based life from around the globe.
  • Stanley Marketplace: What was once just a bunch of neighbors who wanted to start a beer hall has ballooned into an entire marketplace for local, artisanal crafts and gifts.

bars

  • Star Bar: The Star Bar is a peculiar mix of boozy dive bar, and upscale cocktail haunt. Right in the heart of LoDo, the Star Bar is usually where nights go to end.
  • The Family Jones: This local distillery is a great spot for higher-end eats and cocktails. We strongly recommend the Automatic Jones. Trust us.
  • The Green Russell: The Green Russell, situated right on Denver’s iconic Larimer Square, is the speakeasy behind Russell’s Smokehouse. This is a must for any cocktail connoisseurs.
  • Adrift: For people looking for an experience that hearkens back to the Tiki bar craze in the middle of the 20th century, check out Adrift. Just a note: the hurricanes and zombies on are STRONG.

breweries

  • Epic Brewing Company: While technically a Utah brewery, Epic has an incredible taproom in the iconic RiNO neighborhood with a fantastic variety of brews for any type of beer drinker.
  • Cerebral Brewing Company: Experience the charm of East Colfax at Cerebral, which offers a healthy mix of sours, IPAs, and dark beers.
  • Spangalang Brewery: Located smack-dab in the middle of the up-and-coming Five Points neighborhood, Spangalang is the product of former Great Divide brewers who sought to set out on their own. Spangalang is often regarded as the best new brewery in Denver.
  • Stem Ciders: Probably Denver’s best-known cidery, this is cider like you’ve never tried. With complex barrel-aged ciders, mixed with fresh and sweet mixes, Stem is worth a trip.
